Obituary

Louise Ganstrom was born March 16, 1920, to Charlie Billups and Ethyle (Farnham) Billups in Carr Creek Township near Cawker City , Kansas . She died on May 13, 2010, at Cloud County Health Center in Concordia , Kansas . She had just recently celebrated her 90 th birthday. Louise was preceded in death by her parents and her husband George. She is survived by her daughter Gayle and husband James Holt of Cincinnati, Ohio, and son Wendell and wife Marsha Ganstrom of Robinson , Kansas . She had six grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren and embroidered baby quilts for all of her great-grandchildren. Louise grew up on the Freeman Ranch in Mitchell County and attended schools in Beloit , Glasco, and Courtland, and graduated from Concordia High School in 1938. She was baptized on January 9, 1938, at The Baptist Church in Concordia. Her Christian faith was very important to her even on the day she passed away. She was married to George K. Ganstrom on February 15, 1941, in her parents' home north of Concordia, and they were married for 65 years until his death in 2006. Louise was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, honored her parents, and treasured her many friendships. All of her friends became friends for life. She actively volunteered in numerous church and community organizations and was always interested in the betterment of her community. Louise never experienced a day of being bored as attested by her numerous hobbies and interests. Her kindness and enthusiasm encouraged people in all walks of life. There will be a viewing at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home from 1:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday, May 16, followed by a visitation with family from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 17, at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Concordia followed a memorial service officiated by Pastors David Fabarez and James Holt beginning at 11:00 a.m. at The Baptist Church at 7 th and Cedar in Concordia. Friends are invited to join the family for a lunch in the Fellowship Hall following the service. Memorials to The Baptist Church or Sunset Home may be sent to the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, P.O.
