Lowell S. Swenson was born on Aug. 3, 1922 in Sibley Twp., Cloud Co., KS to George & Ethel (Lundeen) Swenson.  He died Sat., Jan. 7, 2012 at Cloud County Health Center, Concordia at the age of 89.  Lowell attended Sibley country school before graduating from Concordia High School.  He married Carolyn Clark at the Clark Home in Republic Co. on Sept. 24, 1944.  He worked as the office manager at the Quartzite Stone Co. until his retirement in 1985.  Lowell was a member of the First United Methodist Church and also volunteered at the Cloud County Museum.  He enjoyed gardening and woodworking.  Lowell is survived by his wife, Carolyn, Concordia; sons, Larry Swenson & wife Janet, Salina, KS & Roger Swenson & wife Paula, Lyons, KS; daughters, Carol Hanson & husband Larry, Divide, CO & Donna Nelson & husband Raymond, Concordia, KS; brother, Lloyd Swenson & wife Connie, Clay Center, KS; 7 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren & 4 great great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Leland, Leonard& Loraine Swenson & a grandson, Kevin Hanson.  Funeral services will be held at 10 AM, Thurs, Jan. 12, 2012 at the First United Methodist Church with Pastor Tessa Zehring officiating.  Visitation will be held from 9 AM to 9 PM with family greeting friends from 7-8 PM Wed. at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home.  Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia.  The family suggests memorials to the First United Methodist Church or the Cloud County Museum.
