Obituary

Lydia Rosella Skeels, 95 years of age, of Concordia, passed away Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at Mount Joseph Senior Village in Concordia where she had been a resident for the past 3 years. She was born on January 14, 1917 near Summerfield to Robert William and Etta Rosella (Barklow) Mooberry. Lydia came to Concordia to visit her sister, Hazel, after high school graduation and took a job in a local café; It was there that she met Kenneth Dewaine Skeels. They were married April 11, 1937 and were blessed with twin sons and a daughter. Lydia was well known in the Concordia area as she worked alongside her husband in the Skeels Shoe Repair Shop. Lydia was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church for over 50 years. She enjoyed attending Sunday school and worship services, where she listened to Dewaine sing in the church choir. She will be remembered for her amazing ability to recall so many memories and share them with all her grandchildren. Lydia and Dewaine were together for 69 years and now they are joined once again for eternity.

Lydia is survived by her children, Kenneth and wife Rosie of Concordia, Kenton and wife Arlene of Broomfield, CO, Karen Fakler and husband Roy of Beatrice, NE; 7 grandchildren, Kelly Alderson and husband Jerry of Sedgwick, DeAnn Romberger and husband Richard of Topeka, David Skeels, Doug Skeels, both of Shawnee, Dana Santos and husband Marcus of Littleton, CO, Stacy Baum and husband Michael of Broomfield, CO, Michael Fakler and wife Jodi of Beatrice, NE; 18 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth Dewaine on June 17, 2006; 2 sisters, Hazel Ramsey, Peggy Graham; and a brother, George Mooberry.

Funeral Services will be held at 10 AM, Tuesday, June 5, 2012 in the Trinity United Methodist Church in Concordia with Pastor L. Dean Thompson officiating. Interment will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Concordia. Visitation will be held from 1 to 9 PM, Monday, June 4, 2012 in the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home in Concordia. Memorials are suggested to the Trinity United Methodist Church in Concordia in care of the funeral home.
