Dora Mae
"Mae" LeDuc, 91 years of age, of Concordia, passed away Sunday, January 12,
2014 at Mount Joseph Senior Village in Concordia. She was born on December 1,
1922 northeast of Clyde to Jeremy and Anna (Tremblay) Couture where she was one
of four girls. At the age of two years, her family moved to a farm south of
Ames where she lived until her marriage in 1945. Mae graduated from District 27
grade school and Clyde High School. Before her marriage, she taught for 6 years
in rural grade schools in District 23 – Miltonvale, District 29 - Ames, and
District 3 - Clyde. Mae received her college accreditation in education and
business from Fort Hays Teachers College, University of Nebraska in Lincoln,
and Cloud County Community College in Concordia. She married Leo LeDuc of
Jamestown on December 26, 1945. They lived on a farm south of Concordia until
1952 when they moved to a farm south of Jamestown. Upon retirement in 1973,
they moved to Concordia.
Mae is survived by 3 daughters, Sister Janet LeDuc,
C.S.J. of Goodland, Diane Nelson of Concordia, Carol Puckett and husband Jon of
Miltonvale; son, Larry LeDuc and wife Pat of Jamestown; granddaughter, Lori
LeDuc; brother-in-law, Andre Lanoue of North Liberty, Iowa; sister-in-law,
LaVeta LeDuc of Lincoln, Nebraska; and several nieces and nephews. She was
preceded in death by her parents; husband Leo on December 1, 2003;
granddaughter, Melissa Puckett; 3 sisters, Rozella Cyr, Zelma Goering, Laura Ann Lanoue; and son-in-law, Ron Nelson.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM
Friday, January 17, 2014 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in
Concordia with Rev. Brian Lager officiating. Interment will be in the St.
Concordia Cemetery in Concordia. Visitation will be held from 9 AM to 9 PM
Thursday, January 16, 2014 with an Altar Society rosary at 5 PM and a vigil
service at 7 PM at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home in Concordia. Memorials are
suggested to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church or Sisters of St. Joseph
in care of the funeral home. Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home in Concordia is in charge
of arrangements.
