She was born January 11, 1922, in Concordia, to David L. Matthew and Daisy B. Humfeld Matthew.
She graduated from
Concordia
High School
in 1939 and attended college at
Emporia
State
University
and
Kansas
State
University
.
On April 20, 1947, she married Marvin F. Shivers, who owned the Ben Franklin store in Concordia for 30 years.
Margaret was a homemaker and dedicated mother for many years while her two children, Debra and Craig, were growing up.
Later, she worked as a clerk for Cloud County District Court until she retired.
Margaret was active in many organizations including Alpha Sigma Tau sorority at
Emporia
State
, Chapter AO of P.E.O.,
Methodist Church Circle
, Genealogy Club, POW Club, Women of the Moose, and numerous bridge clubs.
She was preceded in death by her husband Marvin Shivers; parents David L. and Daisy Matthew, Sr; brothers Professor David Matthew, Jr.and Richard Matthew; and grandson Cole Shivers.
Survivors include daughter Debra Redburn (Michael) of

; son Craig Shivers (Tamara) of
Silver City

; brother Dr. William Matthew (Tina) of Olathe, KS; sister-in-law Janyce Matthew of Concordia; grandsons Nicholas Redburn of Bozeman, MT and Lane Shivers of Cody, WY; granddaughter Lauren Redburn of Bozeman, MT. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 26, 2007 at the First United Methodist Church, Concordia with Rev. Sandra K. Moore, officiating. Visitation will be from 8 AM to 5 PM Thursday, May 24, 2007 and from 9 AM to 9 PM Friday, May 25, 2007 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia. A P.E.O. memorial service will be held at 7:30 PM Fri., May 25 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia.
Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church of Concordia, of P.E.O Educational Loan Fund, or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
