Margaret J. Smith was born on June 2, 1922 in Concordia, KS to Edward & Inez (McClain) Fitch.  She passed from this life on Friday, July 24, 2009 at Good Samaritan Nursing Home, Minneapolis, KS at the age of 87.  M argaret graduated from Concordia High School. She married Peter G. Smith on May 10, 1942 in Salina, KS. He preceded her in death on May 20, 2003. She was a homemaker & farmwife. Margaret was a member of Leah Chapter #182 Order of Eastern Star now Ophel Chp. #115. She also was a member of the Kansas Explorers Club, Silver Needles Quilt Guild & the First United Methodist Church. She is survived by her daughter, Susan Haver, Concordia, KS; son, David Smith & wife Brenda, Scottsville, KS; grandchildren, Mark Smith & wife Marcie, Great Bend, KS, Brad Smith & wife Kathy, Scottsville, KS & Lance Smith & wife Melissa, Louisburg, KS; great grandchildren, Jared & Jeremy Smith, Great Bend, KS, Peter & Carissa Smith, Scottsville, KS & Ryan Smith, Louisburg, KS.  She was preceded in death by her parents. M emorial services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, July 31, 2009 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia with Rev. Ed Moynihan officiating.  The family chose cremation and friends may sign the register book from 8 AM to 5 PM, Thurs., July 30, 2009 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home.  A family burial will be a later date at Fairview Cemetery, Jamestown.  The family suggests memorials to the Kansas Sampler Foundation, Scottsville Community Church, First United Methodist Church, Concordia or Hospice Care of Kansas in care of the funeral home.
