Marian H. Chaput was born on June 24, 1910 in St. Marys, Kansas to Frank and Adelaide Keegan DeMarais. She passed from this life on May 9, 2007 at Cloud County Health Center in Concordia, Kansas at the age of 96. S he married Joseph Z. Chaput on July 11, 1940 at Concordia, KS. He preceded her in death on July 15, 1979. She was a Concordia resident since 1927. She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, St. Ann's Sodality, and the Altar Society. She graduated from St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing in 1930. She was a nurse at St. Joseph Hospital, Concordia and a homemaker. She is survived by her daughter, Jolene Harper and Hus. Rex of Concordia, Kansas, sons, Archbishop Charles J. Chaput, O.F.M. Cap. of Denver, Colorado and Gerald G. Chaput and wife Darlene of Oakley, Kansas; a brother Robert DeMarais of Bella Vista, Arkansas, grandchildren Lori Ann Lang and Hus. Larry of Charlotte, North Carolina, Alan Harper and wife Tammy of El Dorado, Kansas, Amiee Shearer and Hus. Andrew of Olathe, Kansas, Jera Ahrens and Hus. Josh of North Kansas City, Missouri, Allison Chaput of Topeka, Kansas and Victoria Chaput of Oakley, Kansas, great grandchildren, Kalie Brett and Addison Lang of Charlotte, North Carolina, Emily and Sydney Harper of El Dorado, Kansas, Gavin and Bennett Shearer of Olathe, Kansas and Nicholas Ahrens of North Kansas City, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph, her parents, 3 sisters, 2 brothers and a great granddaughter. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, May 15, 2007 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Concordia, Kansas with Archbishop Charles J. Chaput, O.F.M. Cap. and The Most Rev. Paul S. Coakley officiating. An Altar Society Rosary will be held at 5:00 PM and Vigil Services will be held at 6:30 PM, Monday, May 14, 2007 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia. Visitation will be from 9 AM to 9 PM, Monday, May 14, 2007 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home. Burial will be in the St. Concordia Catholic Cemetery, Concordia, Kansas. The family suggests memorials to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.
