Obituary

Marjori e D e russ e au, 95 years of age, of Lawrence , form e rly of Concordia, pass e d away Saturday, January 14, 2012 at the Tonganoxie Nursing Center in Tonganoxie. She was born on March 6, 1916 in Brantford Township , Washington County, Kansas th e daught e r of Russell and Maude (Sharpe) Graham. Marjorie graduat e d from Clyd e High School in 1934. She married Ronell Derusseau March 19, 1941 and they enjoyed 51 wonderful years together before his death in 1992.

Aft e r World War II th e family liv e d in Tacoma , WA , r e turning to Concordia in 1947 wh e r e sh e liv e d until moving to Lawr e nc e in 2009. She lov e d h e r y e ars in Concordia and th e fri e ndships that last e d a lifetime. Marj lov e d h e r family and church mor e than anything. She was an avid bridg e play e r achi e ving th e rank of Grand Lif e Master. She s e rv e d on th e building committ e e for th e First Unit e d M e thodist Church wh e r e sh e also s e rv e d as treasurer. She e njoy e d vacations, golf and card gam e s with h e r grandchildr e n, h e r many bridg e & golf groups, KU bask e tball and h e r wint e rs in Arizona with Ron e ll. Sh e was d e arly lov e d and w e will miss h e r s e ns e of humor and comp e titiv e spirit.

Sh e is surviv e d by h e r son, Ron Derusseau and wif e Michelle of Lawrence; grandsons, Brad Derusseau and wif e Ginnie, Jeff Derusseau and wif e Kim, both of Leawood, Chad Derusseau and wife Corey of South e rn Pin e s, NC; a granddaughter, Emily Derusseau of South e rn Pin e s, NC; and 5 gr e at-grandchildr e n, Chas e , Quinn, Mad e lin e , Connor and Chlo e . She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ronell; sister, Wilda Anderson; and a brother, Warren Graham.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, January 19, 2012 in the First United Methodist Church in Concordia with Rev. Tessa Zehring officiating. Private family interment will be in the Mount Hope Cemetery in Clyde . Visitation will be held from 9 am to 9 pm Wednesday, January 18, 2012 in the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home in Concordia. With Marj being a 19 year cancer survivor, the family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home.
