Marjorie A. Sharpe, 80, of
Clyde
, went to meet her heavenly father on Tuesday, February 26, 2013. Marjorie Ann Sharpe was born on a farm east of
Clyde
on October 10, 1932, the daughter of Glenn and Marvel (Pickard) Brooks. She attended
Devils
Bend
Country
School
for the majority of grade school, then went to Clyde for school and graduated from the
Clyde
High School
in 1950. After high school, she went to work at the Elk State Bank and worked until shortly after getting married. On September 6, 1953, she was united in marriage to Buford Sharpe. To this union two children were born, son Brian and a daughter Sandra. After marriage, Marjorie stayed home and helped work the farm and raised her children. Marjorie was a member of the
First
Baptist
Church
, and served for many years as the Treasurer until the church closed. After the
First
Baptist
Church
closed, she joined the Clyde Christian Church. She was a 50 year member of the Eastern Star, and held many offices over the years. She was a member of the Jolly 17 Club, the Kastle Keepers Club, and the Ladies Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed volunteering at the Park Villa Nursing Home and the Senior Citizens Center. She especially loved watching her grandchildren grow, and tried to attend every sporting event, musical program and 4-H activity.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband, Buford Sharpe; parents; parents-in-law, Charles and Ruth Sharpe; and brothers-in-law, Doyle Headley, Darrell Sharpe. She is survived by her children, Brian Sharpe of Fort Collins, Colorado, Sandra Junek and husband Alan of Cuba; grandchildren, Sarah Edwards of Salina, Michael Junek of Cuba, Brooke Junek of Hays; sister, Marilyn Headley of Lawrence; brother, Alvin Brooks and wife Rodene of Clyde; sister-in-law, Dorothy Sharpe of Clyde; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 10 am, Sat., March 2, at the Clyde Christian Church in
Clyde
with Pastor Fred Applegarth officiating. Burial will follow at the
Mt.
Hope
Cemetery
in
Clyde
.
Visitation will be from 12-8 pm Fri., March 1 with family greeting friends from 6 – 8 pm at Chaput Mortuary in
Clyde
. The family suggests memorials to the church or Park Villa Nursing Home.
