Mary Jean Colby, age 93, went to be with her Lord on Wed., April 6, 2016 at Sunset Nursing Home, Concordia, KS. She was born on Oct. 15, 1922 in Topeka, KS Charles M. & Fern (Jeffers) Williams, Sr.

She graduated from Topeka High School in 1941 and attended Clarks Business College in Topeka. She married Lt. Robert W. Owen on May 3, 1944 and he was killed in action during WWII in 1946. She later married Roger Colby on May 20, 1950 in Topeka. She worked at Forbes Air Force Base in payroll at the Army-Air Force Supply Depot and later as a ward clerk at Winter General Hospital in Topeka along with being a lifelong homemaker. She was a member of The Baptist Church and American Baptist Women in Concordia. Mary Jean was a devoted wife, mother & grandmother who took joy in caring for her family. She was active in her church, teaching bible studies & Sunday School & was her family's spiritual rock.

She is survived by her husband, Roger Colby, Concordia; children; Michael Colby (Carla), River Oaks, TX; Patrica Ostrom, Salina, Peggy Johnson (Ken), Concordia; Kim Colby (Carol), Assaria & Janine Caldwell (Alan), Grove, OK; 15 grandchildren & 14 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Lt. Robert Owen; her parents; brothers, Charles, Jr. & Harold Williams; sister, Thelma McPhail & son in law, Dennis Ostrom.

Funeral services will be 10:00 am, Mon., April 11, 2016 at The Baptist Church, Concordia. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia. Visitation will be from 12-8 pm with family greeting friends from 6-7 pm, Sun., April 10, 2016 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home.
