Mary Anne E. Jacob, 90 years of age, of Concordia, formerly of Clyde, passed away Monday, September 17, 2012 at
Cloud
County
Health
Center
in Concordia. She was born on July 26, 1922 in
Clyde
to Walter and Elva (LeSage) Dunphy. Mary Anne graduated from
Clyde
High School
in 1940. Leaving Clyde, she worked at various jobs in
Manhattan
and
Wichita
before joining the U.S. Women's Army Corp on October 1, 1948. She worked as a Medical Secretary at
Letterman General
Hospital
in
San Francisco
until her discharge in 1950. While in
California
, she married Glenn M. Jacob on December 10, 1949. She accompanied her husband, a U.S. Airman, to
Germany
and the
Island
of
Guam
. Returning to
California
, Mary Anne became an Accounting Technician for the Civil Service in 1959. She was working for N.A.S.A. when she was transferred to
Albuquerque
,
New Mexico
in 1972. Her husband, Glenn, passed away in
Albuquerque
on October 5, 1984. After her retirement from Civil Service, she returned to
Clyde
in 1992. Mary Anne then resided at
Marquis Place
in Concordia in August of 2002 until moving recently to
Mount
Joseph
Senior
Village
in Concordia.
Mary Anne is survived by her brother, William "Bill" Dunphy and wife Emma of Manhattan; sister, Eloise Spurgeon of Wichita; brother in law, Eldon Bergstrom of Clyde; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Glenn; and 3 sisters, Rita LeCuyer, Catherine Marcotte, and Gertrude Bergstrom.
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM Friday, September 21, 2012 at
St. John
the Baptist Catholic Church in
Clyde
with Rev. Larry Letourneau officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date in the
Santa Fe
National
Cemetery
in
Santa Fe
,
New Mexico
. There will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in
Clyde
in care of the funeral home.
