Obituary

Mary Alice (Knedlik) Fairbanks was born April 9th, 1936 in Rural Washington, KS to Emil and Esther (Waterman) Knedlik, where she grew up on a farm. She died Tues, April 3rd, 2012 with her family by her side at Mt. Joseph Senior Village, Concordia, KS at the age of 75. She attended rural Washington grade schools. She moved to Concordia in 1950 with her parents where she attended Concordia Jr.-Sr. High School. On Sept. 12, 1954 she married Marvin Eugene Fairbanks at Concordia, KS where they have lived their whole married life of 57 years. Mary cooked at the Skyliner Restaurant for several years and then went to work for Rite-Way Laundry and Dry Cleaning. She was a member of the Concordia Lutheran Church. She is survived by a daughter: Marva Sue Jack & husband Frank, Concordia, KS; sons: Scott Fairbanks & wife Debbie, White City, KS & Stan Fairbanks & wife Lisa, Lucas, KS; 8 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 1 step grandson & 2 step great grandchildren, a brother in law, Raymond Bombardier and 2 nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband Marvin; a son, Steven; a sister, Dorothy Bombardier and a nephew. The family selected cremation and Memorial services will be held on Mon., April 9, 2012 at 10:30 AM at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home with Rev. David Strommen officiating. Friends may sign the register book from 2-8 PM Sun. at Chaput Buoy Funeral Home. Burial of the cremains will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia. The family suggests memorials to Mt. Joseph Senior Village.
