Mary Katherine Kieffer was born on May 8, 1924 in Cuba, KS to John & Mary (Hadachek) Sonntag. She passed from this life on Friday, Oct. 29, 2010 at Cloud County Health Center, Concordia, KS at the age of 86. Mary married Herman J. Kieffer on April 24, 1946 in Cuba, KS. He preceded her in death on Sept. 23, 1992. Mary was a cook at various restaurants, including: The River Road, Van de Mark, Thunderbird & Bobbie & Dots. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, where she taught religious ed. classes & a former CDA member, Clyde. She was a VFW Post #7515 Auxiliary member, S.I.A. member, served at the Clyde Senior Citizens and was an avid card player as a member of the Jolly 17 card club. Mary is survived by her sons: Paul Kieffer & wife Kelly, Clyde, KS & Jerome Kieffer & wife Marlene, Agenda, KS; daughter: Elaine Roseberry & husband Greg, Columbia, MO; brother: Lawrence Sonntag, Cuba, KS; 6 grandchildren & 7 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman, parents & brothers, Joe & Bill Sonntag. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM, Mon., Nov. 1, 2010 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Clyde, KS with Rev. Larry Letourneau officiating. Visitation will be from 1-7 PM with a Rosary service at 5:30 PM, Sunday all at Chaput Mortuary. Burial will follow the services at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Clyde. The family suggests memorials to the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church or Clyde Senior Citizens.
