Mary Pierce was born on Sept. 20, 1920 in Manchester, England to William & Mary (Turner) Johnstone. She passed from this life on Monday, Sept. 27, 2010 at the Park Villa Nursing Home, Clyde, KS at the age of 90. Mary grew up & lived in Manchester, England until she married Gerald Pierce on Oct. 4, 1945 in Manchester. He preceded her in death on July 20, 2009. Mary was a homemaker and member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Clyde. She also was a member of the Jolly 17 Club. Mary was an avid volunteer at the Park Villa Nursing Home for 25 years and also served on the nursing home board. She was a good wife, mother, grandmother & great grandmother. She is survived by her daughters: Patty Cote & husband Larry, Fairbury, NE, Cathy Lawson & husband Bob, Agenda, KS & Janet Pfeifer & husband Dennis, Hays, KS; son: Bill Pierce & wife Janet, Clyde, KS; sisters: Winifred, Kathleen & Veronica; brother: Tom Johnstone; 13 grandchildren & 25 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald; parents; sisters, Margaret & Ann & brothers, Bill, Sam & Joseph. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM, Thurs, Sept. 30, 2010 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Clyde with Rev. Larry Letourneau officiating. Visitation will be from 11 AM to 8 PM with a Rosary service at 7 PM, Wed. at Chaput Mortuary. Burial will follow the services at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Clyde. The family suggests memorials to the Mt. Calvary Cemetery Fund, Park Villa Nursing Home or Meadowlark Hospice in care of the funeral home.
