Mary Elizabeth Smith, age 91, of Concordia, KS, passed away on Thursday, January 10, 2019, at Sunset Nursing Home in Concordia.  She was born on March 15, 1927 in Concordia, KS to John and Alice (Moore) Hefner.

She married Glenn Wiley Smith on October 6, 1949 at Concordia, Kansas.  He preceded her in death on March 5, 1989.

Mary retired from Sunset Nursing Home where she had worked in the kitchen.  Mary also had worked for Farm Bureau Insurance Company as a Secretary.

She was a member of The Baptist Church, Concordia.

Mary enjoyed traveling especially taking bus tours.

She is survived by her sister, Margaret Bergstrom, Courtland, KS.; nephews, Terry Bergstrom, Courtland, KS.; Kevin Bergstrom (Heather), Wamego, KS.; sister-in-law, Della Hefner, Concordia, KS.; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Glenn, parents, John and Alice, brother, William "Bud" Hefner, brother-in-law, Elden Bergstrom, nephews Larry Bergstrom.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 pm on Sunday, January 13, 2019 at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am, Monday, January 14, 2019 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia with Pastor Jonathan Peppers officiating.  Burial will follow the services at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia.
