Mary Alice Widen, age 84, died Wed., Sept. 9, 2015 at Mt. Joseph Senior Village, Concordia, KS. She was born on July 29, 1931 in St. Joseph, Missouri to William H. & Mary Alice (Severin) Duehren.

She graduated from Notre Dame Catholic High School, Concordia and received a BA in Home Economics from Mount Saint Scholastica College, Atchison, KS. Mary Alice married Merle L. "Bud" Widen on June 7, 1955 in Concordia. He preceded her on Oct. 20, 2001. She was a self-employed seamstress and was the Fabric & Craft Manager at Wal-Mart until her retirement. She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Her hobbies included sewing and collecting angel figurines.

She is survived by her daughter; Mary Susan Wilson (Timothy), Beloit; sons; Michael, Concordia, Mark (Katrina), Belleville, Matthew (Laura), Salina, Murray, Concordia, Morris, Concordia, Mitchell (Rachel), Concordia & Monte (Kristen), Topeka; brother, Robert Duehren (Janice), Grandview, MO; sisters; Sister Severin Deuhren, Rochester, MN, Helen Johnson, Parsons & JoAnn Taylor (Keith), Keller, TX; 12 grandchildren & 2 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Marty; grandson, Marcus Widen; brother, William Duehren & her parents.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 am, Mon, Sept. 14, 2015 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Concordia with Rev. Brian Lager officiating. Burial will follow at St. Concordia Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12-8 pm with an Altar Society Rosary at 5 pm & Vigil service at 6 pm, Sun, Sept. 13, 2015 all at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home.
