Max R. Smith, 72, Jamestown, died July 19, 2009 in his home surrounded by his loved ones. He was born Oct. 3, 1936 in Concordia to Ralph & Maurine (Larson) Smith.He graduated from Jamestown High School in 1954. He married Maxine Ringer of Scottsville on June 23, 1957 at the St. Lukes Lutheran Church of Jamestown. He worked for Co-Op in Jamestown & Scottsville for 15 years before going into the construction business where he worked for the Bunce Corporation of St. Louis, MO. for several years building banks in Kansas, Oklahoma, & Texas. In 1986 is began working with his two sons Randy & Reece with Smith Construction. He was President of the board of the St. Luke's Lutheran Church of Jamestown and served on many church boards throughout the years. He was a member of the Elks Club for over 44 years as well as a member of the American Legion. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Maxine, his son Randy and wife MaryBeth of Jamestown, his daughter Regina Lingenfelter, husband Robert of Murphy, TX, his son Reece and wife Debbie, of Jamestown & his brother, Allen "Tud" Smith, Concordia. He was proudest of his 6 grandchildren, Jenny Beck (Andy) Crete, NE, Audrey Goedert (Jared) Topeka, Jordan & Connor Lingenfelter, Murphy, TX & Tanner & Taylor Smith, Jamestown. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister & brother in law, Aileen & Othel Zimmer; brother, John A. Smith & sister in law, Dorothy Smith. Memorial services will be held at 10 AM, Thurs, July 23, 2009 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home with Rev. Dean R. Frazier officiating.  Max's wishes were to be cremated.  Friends may sign the register book from 9 AM to 9 PM with the family greeting friends from 6-8 PM, Wed., July 22, 2009 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home.  Burial of the cremains will follow the memorial services at Jamestown Cemetery, Jamestown, KS.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Big Brothers & Big Sisters of Cloud, Mitchell & Republic Counties in care of the funeral home.
