Maxine Balderston was born on August 8, 1927 to Frank and Mary LaBarge Chartier in Ames, KS. She passed from this life on Saturday, March 29, 2008 at Garden Terrace of Overland Park in Overland Park, KS at the age of 80. She graduated from Clyde High School in 1945. She married Wilmer "Baldy" Balderston on Nov. 28, 1946 at the Clifton United Methodist Church in Clifton, KS. He preceded her in death on June 8, 2005. She was a homemaker and then later worked at the Gambles Store in Clyde as a clerk/cashier. In her later years, she worked for Chaput Mortuary in Clyde as a chapel assistant. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, VFW Post #7515 Ladies Auxiliary all of Clyde, KS. She was a member of a Bridge club and several other card clubs. She also enjoyed playing bingo. She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Saulnier, Overland Park, KS; sons, Ron Balderston and wife Diana, Eagle, ID and Craig Balderston and wife Angela, Omaha, NE, 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilmer "Baldy"; her parents and a brother, Duane Chartier. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM on Thursday, April 3, 2008 at the Clyde United Methodist Church, Clyde, KS. Visitation will be held from 11 AM to 8 PM, Wednesday, April 2, 2008 with the family greeting friends from 6-8 PM. Burial will follow the services at the Pleasant View Cemetery, Ames, KS. The family suggests memorials to the Clyde United Methodist Church or the Clyde Ambulance Fund.
