Obituary

Maxine D. (Taylor) Zenger, 84 years of age, of Clyde, passed away Friday, December 2, 2011 at the Park Villa Nursing Home in Clyde. She was born on June 29, 1927 in Haddam to John and Nellie (Hyland) Taylor. Maxine graduated from Haddam High School in 1945 and married Wade Zenger on Oct. 21, 1945. She worked at the grocery store in Haddam & Cuba, KS and was a bookkeeper at Walther's Oil Co., Cuba for 18 years. After moving to Clyde, she volunteered at Park Villa Nursing Home. She was a homemaker, farm wife, mother and loved to cook for company.


Maxine is survived by a daughter, Carol (Gale) Garrison of Bella Vista, AR; son, Jim (Rhonda) Zenger of Clyde; grandchildren, Michelle (Bob) Martin of Solomon, Lisa (Rick) Wagner of Newton, Mark Zenger of Clyde, and Amanda Zenger of Manhattan; great grandchildren, Jonah, Grace & Noah Martin and Lily & Rex Wagner; sisters, Wanda Aherns of Belleville, Delila (Harold) Metz of Washington; brother, Dean (Ilah) Taylor of Belleville; brothers in law, Wesley (Betty) Zenger and Dr. Weldon (Dr. Sharon) Zenger; and sisters in law, Ramona Cornet, Dorothy Cox and Janice Zenger. She was preceded in death by her husband Wade on March 28, 1999; parents; and brother, Virgil Taylor.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Tuesday, December 6, 2011 in the Haddam United Methodist Church, Haddam with Rev. Randy Jellison-Knock officiating. Interment will be in the Haddam City Cemetery, Haddam. Visitation will be held from 1 – 8 PM Monday, December 5, 2011 with family greeting friends from 6 – 8 PM in the Chaput Mortuary, Clyde. The family suggests memorials to the Haddam United Methodist Church in care of the funeral home.
