Obituary

May Jean Lundquist, age 89, died Fri., Sept. 5, 2014 at Clay County Medical Center, Clay Center, KS. She was born May 24, 1925 in Rural Stockdale, KS to Carl Oscar & Anna O. (Bowman) Burkman.

May Jean graduated from Garrison High School, Garrison, KS. She worked in secretarial position for various flour mills in K.C. until she married Verlin A. Lundquist on April 20, 1957 in K.C., MO. He preceded her in death on Nov. 5, 2003. She was a homemaker until returning to work as a cook & later a CNA/CMA at Estelle Care Home, Clifton & Park Villa, Clyde & as a cook at the Senior Center in Clifton. She was a member of the Brantford Evangelical Covenant Church, Clyde and was involved in many areas of ministry.

She is survived by her daughters, Janice Lundquist, Phillipsburg & Myra Lundquist, Agenda; brother, Willard Burkman, Salem, MO & sister Verna Welander, Shawnee, KS.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers, Elmo & Roland Burkman & sisters, Mabel Piper, Vera Wilson & Bernice Vestal.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Thurs., Sept. 11, 2014 at Brantford Evangelical Covenant Church with Rev. Russell Sizemore officiating. Burial will follow at the Brantford Covenant Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-8 pm with family greeting from 6-7 pm, Wed., Sept. 10, 2014 at Chaput Mortuary, Clyde. The family suggests memorials to the Brantford Evangelical Covenant Church or the family's choice in care of the funeral home.
