May graduated from Blue Eye High School in southern Missouri. Following her graduation from Missouri State University in Springfield, Mo in 1954, she moved to Scandia, Kansas where she taught for 39 years as a high school business teacher, teaching three generations of many families. She enjoyed school and knew from her fist day of attending school in a one-room country schoolhouse that she wanted to become a teacher someday.

In 1955 she was married to Everett Robison. They had two children, John and Becky. Everett died in 1974.

In 1976 she married Gordon Morrison of Concordia, Kansas. After her retirement from teaching in 1996 they moved to a ranch south of Concordia.

May became a follower of Christ at an early age. She was active in the Scandia Methodist Church for many years and later in the Baptist Church in Concordia after moving there.

May was a supportive helpmate to her husbands and a loving mother to her children and grandchildren. May was a caring and compassionate teacher who inspired her students both inside and outside the classroom. May was a talented musician who could play any song after hearing it just once. She shared her musical talent with her churches and community. May was a gracious hostess, making all who entered her home feel truly welcomed and accepted. She had a servant's heart.

May was preceded in death by her first husband, her parents, three sisters, five brothers, and a grandson. She is survived by her husband Gordon, of the home, by her son John Robison and wife Joan, Scandia; her daughter Becky McVey and husband Randy, Garden City; three stepdaughters: Kathleen Schmidtberger of LaGrange, WY; Beth Banks and Laura Wojtowicz and husband John of Wichita; 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; brothers, George Freeman & wife Ruth, Jack Freeman & wife Linda, James E.
