Mike Johnston was born on March 9, 1937 in Topeka, KS to Bernard & Elizabeth (Mountatin) Johnston. He passed from this life on Friday, December 12, 2008 at Mount Joseph Senior Community, Concordia, KS at the age of 71. Mike graduated from Concordia High School in 1955 and then served in the US Navy from 1956-1960. Mike married Pat Elsey on Sept. 15, 1962 in Concordia, KS. Mike worked for his parents after he returned home from the service at Johnston Supply until 1976, when he bought the business from his parents. Mike owned and operated Johnston Supply until 1991 when he sold the store. Mike was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, American Legion Post #76 and the Knights of Columbus and was a former member of the Moose Lodge and Elks Club. Mike is survived by his wife, Pat Johnston, Concordia, KS; a son, Kenneth Johnston & wife Sheri, Concordia, KS; daughters, Nicole Titus & husband Tom, Parsons, KS, Dyan Barnes & husband Josh, Concordia, KS & Kerri Fellows & husband Brian, Olathe, KS; 10 grandchildren & 2 great grandchildren. Mike was preceded in death by his parents. Memorial mass will be held at 10 AM on Monday, December 15, 2008 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Concordia with Rev. Barry Brinkman officiating. Burial of cremains will follow the services at St. Concordia Cemetery with Military honors conducted by American Legion Post #76 and VFW Post #588. Friends may sign the register book from 2-9 PM Sunday, December 14, 2008 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home with a Rosary service at 6:30 PM Sunday. The family suggests memorials to Meadowlark Hospice or Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.
