Nora M. Berk, age 99, died Thurs., Feb. 26, 2015 at Sunset Nursing Home, Concordia. She was born on the farm near Huscher, KS to Louie & Nellie Mae (Campbell) Trost.
She attended school in the Huscher community. She married Herbert J. Berk on Jan. 31, 1939 at her parents' home, near Huscher. He preceded her on Aug. 11, 1996. She was a lifetime area resident, homemaker and farm wife. She was a member of the Huscher United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women, where she taught Sunday & Vacation Bible School for several years. She was involved with 4-H. She was an excellent seamstress and designed clothing for herself, her children & the neighbors' children. Nora was an excellent baker and was well known for her oatmeal cookies.
She is survived by her son, Dale Berk (Linda), Concordia; daughters, Phyllis Vinson, Marshalltown, IA & Joyce McCall (John), Topeka; 7 grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren & 4 great great grandchildren; sisters in law, Velma & Elma Trost & Edith Krasny, all of Concordia & a host of friends.
She was preceded by her husband, Herbert; daughter, Linda Lou Martin; son in law, Joe Vinson; brothers, Harry & Clarence Trost & step granddaughter, Becky Mason.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM on Mon., March 2, 2015 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home with Rev. Dean R. Frazier officiating. Burial will follow at the Nelson Center Cemetery, Huscher. Visitation will be from 1 PM to 7 PM with family greeting friends from 6 PM to 7 PM on Sun, March 1, 2015 at the funeral home.
