Obituary

Norman L. Johnston, age 88, died Tues., May 26, 2015 at Mount Joseph Senior Village, Concordia, KS. He was born on June 13, 1926 in Concordia, KS and raised on a farm southwest of Concordia by his parents, Harry M. & Edna (Carlson) Johnston.

Norman graduated from Concordia High School in 1944, served in the US Navy for two years in Maryland and then graduated from Kansas State University with a Bachelor's degree in Agriculture. He farmed southwest of Concordia until he retired. Norman was an avid Kansas State fan passing that along to his family, served on the Cloud County Extension Council from 1979 to 1984, served on the West Branch Cemetery Board, Cloud County Co-Op Elevator Board and was awarded the Cloud County Soil Conservation Award in 2011. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Norman was also an avid animal lover.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Lois; daughter, Karla Waters (Jeff), Salina; son, Kenneth Johnston and longtime friend Linda Weeks, Lawrence; granddaughters, Brooke Waters, Manhattan & Bailey Waters, Salina.

He was preceded in death by an infant son, Bryant; his parents; brother, D. Dean Johnston & an infant sister, Dorothy Jean Johnston.

The family selected cremation and will hold Memorial graveside services at 11:00 AM, Friday, May 29, 2015 at the West Branch Cemetery, Rural Concordia. Friends may sign the register book from 9 am to 9 pm with the family greeting friends from 6-7 pm, Thurs., May 28 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home.
