Norman L. Tinkler was born on December 12, 1930 in Lindsborg, KS to Clarence & Amy (Sandell) Tinkler. He passed from this life on Sunday, Feb. 1, 2009 at the Bethany Home, Lindsborg at the age of 78. Norman married Ardyce F. Johnson on Sept. 21, 1952 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Brantford. She preceded him in death on June 23, 2006. Norman served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict where he was awarded a purple heart. Norman farmed north of the Clifton, KS area and also worked for the Cloud County Highway Dept. He was a member of the American Legion Post #227 in Clifton and VFW Post #7515 in Clyde. He is survived by his daughters, Kathy Pearson, Phoenix, AZ, Melinda Douglas-Graham & husband Gene, CO, Laurie Srna & husband Daniel, Glasco, KS & Sandy Champlin & Rob Ferguson, Lindsborg, KS; a son, Fred Jordan & wife Nancy, Wichita, KS; brothers, Don Tinkler & wife Judy, Eldridge, IA, Floyd Tinkler & wife Bernice, San Bernadino, CA & Jerry Tinkler & wife Carole, Wichita, KS; 12 grandchildren & 3 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ardyce; an infant daughter, Cindy Lu Tinkler; a son, Phillip Desbien & a sister, Marjorie Houke. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM on Friday, February 6, 2009 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia with Pastor L. Dean Thompson officiating. Burial will follow the services at the Washington Cemetery, Washington, KS with military honors conducted by VFW Post #7515, Clyde. Visitation will be held from 9 AM to 9 PM Thurs, Feb. 5, 2009 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home. The family suggests memorials to the Clyde VFW Post #7515.
