Olive B. Haskins was born on Nov. 28, 1915 in Cottonwood, Minnesota to Joseph & Bernadette (Guimond) Ouellette. She passed from this life on Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at Cloud County Health Center, Concordia at the age of 93. Olive moved to St. Joseph, KS from Minnesota in 1928, she was the fourth oldest of eight children. She married Ralph L. Haskins in 1935 in Concordia, KS. He preceded her in death on March 13, 1987. Ralph was a convert to the Catholic church and they had their marriage blessed at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Concordia. Olive worked as a cook and dishwasher in Foster's Café, Fortier's Café, Chings Café, White Way Café in Clyde and St. Joseph Hospital and the Senior Citizens Center in Concordia. She returned to Clyde in 1988. Olive was a devoted wife and care giver to her husband for years. She was a special mother, grandmother, great grandmother & great great grandmother. Olive is survived by her daughter, Maxine Boling, Clyde, KS; sister, Isabell Gentry, Topeka, KS; grandchildren, Kathy Douglas Zahm & husband Bruce, Narka, KS; Carol Douglas, Manhattan, KS & Scott Douglas, Clyde, KS; sister in law, Rita Ouellette, Clyde, KS; 3 great grandchildren & 4 great great grandchildren. She was preceded In death by her husband, Ralph; parents; grandson, Steven R. Douglas; 2 brothers, 4 sisters & son in law, Jap Boling. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM, Friday, May 29, 2009 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Clyde with Rev. Larry Letourneau officiating. Visitation will be held from 11 AM to 8 PM with a Parish Rosary at 5 PM, Thurs., May 28, 2009 at Chaput Mortuary, Clyde. Burial will follow the services at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Clyde. The family suggests memorials to the Mt. Calvary Cemetery Fund, Steven R. Douglas Scholarship Fund or the donor's choice.
