Oliver Otis Edmonds, 100 years of age, of Clyde, passed away Sunday, April 20, 2014 at Mount Joseph Senior Village in Concordia. He was born on July 16, 1913 in Clifton to Harry and Flora (Brooks) Edmonds. Oliver married Rosella Anna Chaput on November 24, 1938 in Clyde. He was a lifelong farmer in the Clyde area. Oliver was known as the "Watermelon Man" and raised watermelons several years for the Clyde Watermelon Festival. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his nieces and nephews.
Oliver is survived by a son, Arlen and wife Carol; sister-in-law, Edith Chaput; both of Clyde; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Rosella on March 16, 1999; son Darrel; and sister, Opal Kinion.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM Thursday, April 24, 2014 in the Chaput Mortuary in Clyde with Rev. Larry Letourneau officiating. Interment will follow in the Mount Calvary Cemetery in Clyde. Visitation will be held from noon to 8 PM Wednesday, April 23, 2014 in the Chaput Mortuary in Clyde. Memorials are suggested to the Clyde Ambulance Fund in care of the mortuary. Chaput Mortuary in Clyde is in charge of arrangements.
