Obituary

Opal M. Vannice was born on June 17, 1924 in Laurel, Montana to Allan & Inga (Hammer) Vannice. She passed from this life on Wed., August 12, 2009 at Mt. Joseph Senior Village, Concordia, KS at the age of 85. Opal was baptized on March 30, 1933. She graduated from Concordia High School. During the war she began working for Fairmont Foods delivering milk. She continued to work for Fairmont & later Roberts Dairy for the next 45 years, eventually becoming the book keeper. Opal was a member of the Ladies of the Moose Lodge #114 & VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Opal enjoyed bowling & gardening. She is survived by her nephews: Dale Christensen & wife Lois, Solomon, KS & Harold Christensen & wife Marilyn, Wichita, KS; a niece: Connie Mitchell, Salina, KS; several great nephews, nieces & cousins & a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Leslie & Floyd Vannice & sisters, Elsie Christensen & Mabel Christensen. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM, Saturday, Aug. 15, 2009 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home with Rev. Dean R. Frazier officiating. Visitation will be held from 9 AM to 9 PM, Friday, Aug. 14, 2009 at the funeral home. Burial will follow the services at Norway Cemetery, Norway, KS. The family suggests memorials to the Ladies of the Moose Lodge #114 & Meadowlark Hospice in care of the funeral home.
