Obituary

Patricia "Pat" Gerard, age 87, Concordia resident, entered into rest on April 29, 2018, at Marquis Place Assisted Living, Concordia. She was born in Barnes, Kansas on August 21, 1930 to Gail and Kathleen (Hiltgen) Sawin.

Patricia was in the graduating Class of 1948 Notre Dame High School, Concordia.

On August 19, 1950 she married Rex Gerard in Concordia, Kansas. They truly had a genuine love for each other for their nearly 65 years together. He preceded her in death on May 9, 2015.

Pat was an amazing mother, and is survived by her children, Joe Gerard (Dee), Concordia, KS.; Glenda Clemons (Dave), Concordia, KS.; Greg Gerard (Troy), Haugan, MT.; Kim Gerard, Draper, UT.; and Jeff Gerard, Concordia, KS. She is also survived by her 8 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild, sister-in-law, Rosalie Sawin, Salina, KS.; and several nieces and nephews.

Patricia was preceded in death by her husband, Rex, parents, grand-daughter, Nicole Barleen, 4 brothers and 2 sisters.

Patricia was a bookkeeper for Gerard Construction, and a homemaker. She was a member of the Our Lady Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Moose Lodge, Elks Club, and American Legion Post 76.

A Mass of a Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 3, 2018 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Concordia, with Fr. David Metz officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Concordia Cemetery, Concordia.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia.

Memorial contributions may be given to either Meadowlark Hospice or St. Concordia Cemetery Fund c/o Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home.
