Obituary
Patricia "Patty" (Cassel) June, age 83, left this earthly life on Thursday, July 26, 2018 at Sunset Nursing Home, Concordia. She was born on February 12, 1935 in Concordia, Kansas. Her parents were Bertha "Johnnie" (Strait) & Everett "Skinny" Cassel.
She graduated from Concordia High School in 1953. She married Boyd "Toby" June on 1-1-1955 and he preceded her in death on May 20, 2007. Most of Patty's life she worked as a cook & baker. Her last job was for the Sisters of St. Joseph at the Nazareth Convent. (She also worked at Fairmont, Gillan's Bakery and the ASCS office in early days.)
Patty loved being a mom. It also gave her joy to make baked goods &
give
them to neighbors, friends & family. She loved hanging out with her mom
,
"Johnnie" & her Grandma Strait, singing with her sister Carol, watching soap operas & shopping. Mom belonged to the Democratic Party, the Foursquare Church, the Catholic Church, & was a "Pastor Dean Methodist".
Patty supported the Disabled American Vets; Veterans of Foreign Wars: Wounded Warriors; Paralyzed Vets; Salvation Army & Boy's Town.
She is survived by her children; Cindi Etten (John), Ft. Collins, CO; Brian June, Wahoo, NE; Laurie Heise (Tim), Lincoln, NE & Jay June (Jody), Malmo, NE; siblings; Barbara Cox, Concordia; Carol Tallent, Logan; Pamela McDonald, Logan & Craig Cassel, Friend, NE; 11 grandchildren & 13 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Toby; her parents; son, Brad June & a brother, Everett "Booster" Cassel.
Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M., Monday, July 30, 2018 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home with Pastor Bob Burns and Roger Demanette officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia. The casket will be closed and there will be no visitation. The family suggests memorials to Alzheimer's Assoc. in care of the funeral home. For online condolences, please visit www.chaputbuoy.com.
