Peggy L. Smith was born on Nov. 21, 1946 in Concordia, KS to A. Chester & Arlene (Winsett) Brumfield. She passed from this life at her home on Sat., Feb. 5, 2011 after a long and courageous battle against cancer at the age of 64. Peggy graduated from Concordia High School in 1964, she then graduated from Cosmetology school in Salina. Peggy married Terry Smith on Dec. 23, 1965 in Concordia, KS. He preceded her in death on Sept. 9, 2001. Peggy as a cosmetologist for 30 years and later was the owner/operator of Classique Hair Fashions. Peggy returned to school and graduated with a degree in Nursing and worked as a nurse until her recent retirement. She was a member of The Baptist Church and was involved with Heifer & Compassion International. She is survived by her daughter: Melissa Loeffler & husband Mike, Concordia, KS; sons: Chancy Smith & wife Cristy, Abilene, KS & Samuel Smith & wife Crystal, Concordia, KS; grandchildren: Bailey, Brice & Terryl Loeffler, Concordia, KS, Casity, Caysen & Carstyn Smith, Abilene, KS & Abigail Smith, Concordia, KS; great grandchild: Tenlee Loeffler, Concordia, KS; sister: Sherry Campbell & husband Larry, Concordia, KS; brother: Rick Brumfield & wife Mary Janet, Clay Center, KS; mother in law: Jean Smith, Concordia, KS & sister in law: Jan Stevens & husband Steve, Perry, KS. She was preceded in death by her husband, Terry; parents & father in law, John Smith. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM at The Baptist Church, Concordia on Wed., Feb. 9, 2011 with Rev. Samuel Scheibler officiating. Visitation will be held from 9 AM to 9 PM with the family greeting friends from 6-8 PM, Tues., Feb. 8, 2011 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home. Burial will follow the services at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia. The family suggests memorials to The Baptist Church Building Fund in care of the funeral home.
