Phyllis Lee Fellows was born on June 8 th , 1946 in Smith Center, Kansas to John F. and Masel Fellows. She was the oldest of four children. She departed this life on Fri., May 30 th , 2014 at Mt. Joseph Senior Community, Concordia at the age of 67.
Phyllis spent her early childhood on a farm North of Smith Center and attended the Thornburg country school. Phyllis had a love for music that began at a very early age. When she was only 3 she performed her first professional singing debut for the Rotary Club at Smith Center. She was rewarded with an ice cream cone as her payment. She lived in Smith Center until 1962 when the family moved to Concordia. She married Raymond Crannell in 1964 and 3 children were born to this union. After they divorced, Phyllis moved to Beloit where she married Frank Grotz. They were married for 12 years.
While in Beloit she worked for the Youth Center for over 15 years. Phyllis moved back to Concordia in 1992 in order to be closer to her parents. While living in Concordia she worked for OCCK. In 1999 due to health issues she decided to quit working.
Phyllis enjoyed reading, cooking, bingo and she crocheted numerous baby blankets for family and friends. She especially enjoyed spending time with family and spoiling her grandchildren.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, John F. and Masel Fellows and her beloved brother David Fellows.
She is survived by her brothers, Bill (Cindy) Fellows, John A. (Marylu) Fellows, her children, Tim Crannell, Tony (Rachel) Crannell, and Erica (Russ) Rowson, 6 grandchildren, several step grandchildren and lots of cousins; aunts; uncles and extended family.
Phyllis was a member of the Wesleyan Church, American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, past member of the Moose and a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Phyllis will be missed greatly by all that knew her.
It was Phyllis's wish to be cremated and Memorial Services to be held at 11 am on Tues, June 3, 2014 at the Wesleyan Church in Concordia with Pastor Bob Burns officiating. Friends may sign the register book from 9 am to 9 pm with the family greeting friends from 6-8 pm Mon., June 2 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home. The family suggests memorials to the Wesleyan Church, Concordia in care of the funeral home.
