Obituary

Phyllis Arline (Walker) Johnston, 77 years of age, of Excelsior Springs, Missouri, formerly of Concordia, Kansas passed away Thursday, August 8, 2013 in Excelsior Springs. She was born on October 18, 1935 in Concordia to William Ralph and Elsie Clara (Erickson) Walker. Arline graduated from Concordia High School in 1953. She married Gary R. Johnston on July 30, 1955 in Concordia. Arline was a housewife the majority of her life and enjoyed sewing, cooking, and especially time with her family.

Arline is survived by 5 sons, Bill Johnston of Plano, Texas, Ron Johnston and wife Becky of Excelsior Springs, Missouri, Scott Johnston of Liberty, Missouri, Gary Johnston of Excelsior Springs, Missouri, Kerry Johnston and wife Liyan of Smithville, Missouri; daughter, Kaylynn Johnston of Beaumont, Texas; 9 grandchildren, Hether Johnston, Jason Johnston, Aaron Johnston, Nicole Johnston, Brooke Earlywine and husband Justin, Zach Johnston and wife Alysa, Ryan Johnston and wife Megan, Bethany Edwards and husband Tim, Kimberly Johnston; 14 great grandchildren; 3 step great grandchildren; sister, Virginia Swiercinsky and husband Roman of Belleville, Kansas; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Gary on December 14, 2002; infant daughter, Mary; and 2 sisters, Charlotte Mullen and Donna Beers.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, August 12, 2013 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Concordia, Kansas with Rev. Brian Lager officiating. Interment will be in the St. Concordia Cemetery in Concordia. Visitation will be held from noon to 8 PM Sunday, August 11, 2013 with a Vigil Service at 5:00 PM at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home in Concordia. Memorials are suggested to the family's choice in care of the funeral home. Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home in Concordia is in charge of arrangements.
