Phyllis J. Moon, age 90, passed away on Sun., Dec. 20, 2015 at Mt. Joseph Senior Village, Concordia. She was born on August 12, 1925 in Concordia, KS to John & Minnie (Mercier) Gray.
She attended Logan Center grade school and graduated from Greenleaf High School in 1943. After graduation she worked in the ASCA office in Washington, KS. She married Melvin L. Moon on Nov. 14, 1945 and he preceded her on Nov. 18, 1989. She worked for Concordia Drug & House Wares, Duckwalls and was a cook for USD 333 for 30 years. She also worked at the St. Joseph Hospital in laundry, the kitchen & a nurse's aide. She later worked for the Concordia Rest Home as a cook. Phyllis was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, the Altar Society, a 50 year member of the Women of the Moose, America Legion Auxiliary & her card clubs, FAL & Booster. Phyllis was active in her children's activities, serving as a Den Mother for Cub Scouts and a leader for both Boy & Girl Scouts.
She is survived by her sons, Lowell (Pam), Paul (Verletta), both of Concordia & Dale (Lisa), Amarillo, TX; daughter, Reva Blochlinger (Dennis), Concordia; grandchildren & great grandchildren; Amanda Moon, Phoenix, AZ; Kristi Demanette (David) & Annibella, Nashville, TN; Justin Snyder (Tracy), Dalton & Alison, Concordia; Randi Aldridge (Ray), Caitlin & Brandin, Concordia; Jina Moon, Jaden & Brenan, Manhattan; Nathan Moon, Irving, TX; Megan Friemel & Mason, Amarillo, TX; Morgan Moon, Amarillo, TX; Amy Blochlinger Ramsey (Dwayne), Addison, Amielia & Asher, Olathe; Andrea Blochlinger Preston (Brian), Blake, Bradyn & Olivia, Olathe; Amber Blochlinger Miller (Matt), Rustyn, Kyler, Madyx, Hailey & Kynsley, Concordia & Autumn Blochlinger & Wyatt & Luna, Concordia.
She was preceded by her husband, Melvin; her parents & a daughter, Melva Jean.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am, Wed., Dec. 23, 2015 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Concordia, KS with Rev. Brian Lager officiating. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Greenleaf, KS. Visitation will be from 11 am to 9 pm with an Altar Society Rosary at 5 pm followed by a Vigil service at 6 pm all on Tues., Dec. 22, 2o15 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home.
