Obituary
Rev. Ralph J. Jones, 90 years of age, of Concordia, passed away Friday, September 16, 2011 at Cloud County Health Center in Concordia. He was born to E.I. and Sarah (Hinson) Jones on April 1, 1921 in Cloud County. Ralph graduated from Jamestown High School in 1938. Ralph served his country for 38 months during WWII in the U.S. Army. He married Violet Swenson on December 9, 1945. He received a Master of Divinity from Garrett Theological Seminary and also earned his Masters degree in Psychology and Counseling. Ralph was a Methodist Minister for many years in many different communities throughout Kansas and Illinois.
Ralph is survived by his wife, Violet; daughter, Sharon Jones of Gainesville, GA; son, Ronald and Wendy Jones of Sierra Vista, AZ; daughter, Mary Jones; son, Wesley Jones, both of Springfield, Illinois; 2 grandchildren, Kimberly and David Wright, Ryan and Lisa Jones; 3 great grandchildren, Shane and Evan Wright, Finn Jones; sister, Ellen Jones of Hutchinson; brother-in-law, Carl and Maryln Swenson of Concordia; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; foster parents, Gus and Mary Krohn; sister, Ruth Jones; and brother, Robert Jones.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, September 20, 2011 in the First United Methodist Church, Concordia, with Rev. Tessa Zehring officiating. Interment will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia. Visitation will be held from noon – 9 PM Monday, September 19, 2011 with family greeting friends from 7 – 8 PM in the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia. Memorials may be left to the Concordia First United Methodist Church or the Jamestown United Methodist Church.
