Obituary

Raymond Burt was born on Dec. 1, 1924 in Haddam, KS to George & Ethel (Brichait) Burt. He passed from this life on Sunday, Sept. 20, 2009 at Sunset Home, Concordia at the age of 84. Raymond graduated from Concordia High School. He served in the US Navy during WWII in the Medical Corp. Raymond married Berniece Lewis on Oct. 20, 1946 at the Baptist Parsonage in Concordia, KS. She preceded him in death on Feb. 20, 2007. Raymond and Berniece owned and operated Burt's Kawasaki Motorcycle Shop in Concordia, KS for 30 years along with farming in the area. Raymond was a lifetime member of American Legion Post #76 & VFW Post #588. He served on the Norway School Board and was a 4-H Leader. Raymond volunteered for 40 plus years and sponsored for 20 plus years local Concordia Little League baseball. He is survived by his daughter: Donna Susan Hodgins & husband John, Riley, KS; sons: Daryl Burt & wife Kathy, Muskatine, IA, Dennis Burt & wife Rosemary, Belleville, KS, Kevin Burt, Courtland, KS & Marlin Burt & wife Genevieve, Lenexa, KS; brother: Keith Burt & wife Phyllis, Table Rock, AR; grandchildren: Jenny Rendfrey & husband Scott, Ft. Collins, CO, Tonie Busby & husband Robert, NY, Chad Burt & wife Camille, Olathe, KS, Brent Burt & wife Melissa, Shawnee, KS, Heath Burt, Topeka, KS, Dusty Hodgins, Riley, KS, Heather Howard & husband Josh, Elk Grove, CA, Bailey & Madison Burt, Kansas City, MO & Tabitha, Gloria & Noel Burt, Lenexa, KS & great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thurs., Sept. 24, 2009 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia with Rev. Dean R. Frazier officiating. Burial with military honors by American Legion Post #76 & VFW Post #588 will follow the services at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 AM to 9 PM with the family greeting friends from 7-8 PM, Wed., Sept. 23, 2009 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home. The family suggests memorials to the Cloud County 4-H Youth Fund in care of the funeral home.
