Rex Eugene Swihart, Jr., age 77, left this World to be with God on, Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at the Stormont Vail Health, in Topeka, Kansas.  He was born on February 14, 1944 in Clyde, Kansas to the late Rex Swihart, Sr. and Betty (Boling) Swihart.  One of five children.

Rex was a 1962 graduate of Concordia High School.

On April 25, 1964 Rex was united in marriage to Audrey Girard at the St. Joseph Catholic Church and they remained together for 57 wonderful years.  To this marriage they were blessed with six children, Lisa, Brad, Kurtis, Butch, Christina, Phillip.

Rex made his life in Concordia, Kansas as a skilled carpenter for 38 years.  He then was the Director of Maintenance at the Belleville Health Care for 14 years, until his retirement at age 70.  He continued doing many honey-do projects at home and for others.  His love was in anything wood related.  Rex had a love for his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  His selflessness was known by all.  He was our Rock and hero.

He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Concordia.  His hobbies include going to Auctions with his wife Audrey the love of his life.

Rex is survived by his wife Audrey of the home in Concordia, a daughter, Lisa and Husband Dallas Hasenbank, Concordia, KS; a son, Brad Swihart and wife Deanna, Concordia, KS; a son, Butch Swihart and wife Jennifer, Clay Center, KS; a daughter, Christina Henderson and husband Scot, Concordia, KS; a son, Phillip Swihart and wife Crystal, Baldwin, KS; 12 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, a brother, Arlan Swihart and wife Carla, Bushland, TX; a sister-in-law, Jolene Swihart, Concordia, KS; a Aunt, Shirley Swihart, Novada, CA; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins both living and gone before him.  He was preceded in death by his son, Kurtis,  his parents, Rex and Betty, a sister, Pauline Cyr (Gail), a brother, Mike Swihart, and a sister, Sue Nelson (Richard).

Visitation will be held from 1:00 -8:00 p.m, Monday, October 25, 2021 at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home.  A Parish Rosary will be prayed on Monday, evening at 6:00 p.m., led by Fr. David Metz.  The family will greet friends after the Rosary in the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia, Kansas.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Concordia, Kansas with Fr. David Metz officiating.
