Richard A. Eakins, age 71, of Concordia, passed away on Sunday, June 06, 2021 at Sunset Nursing Home, Concordia.  He was born on April 25, 1950 in Concordia, KS to Arthur I & Eva L. (Caraveau) Eakins.

Richard graduated from Concordia High School in 1970.  He married Eunice Snyder on May 14, 1977 in Concordia, celebrating 44 years this May.  Richard worked at St. Joseph Hospital, he owned and operated Richard's Shoe Repair & worked at Super 8 Motel, Concordia.  He was a member of The Baptist Church, former member of Moose Lodge #1428 and Christian Motorcycle Association.  Richard was also known for portraying Santa Claus in the local area for 45 years.

He is survived by his wife, Eunice, Concordia; daughter, Shayla Eakins, Solomon; grandchildren, Quentin & Quade Affolter & Carter Casey; sisters in law, Martha Eakins, Clyde & Kay Eakins, Burr Oak

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Art & Robert Eakins & a sister, Sue Cannon.

Funeral services will be 10:30 am, Thursday, June 10, 2021 at The Baptist Church with Pastor Jonathan Peppers officiating.  Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia.  Visitation will be Wed., June 9, 2021 from 1-8 pm with the family greeting friends from 6-7 pm at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home.  The family suggests memorials to the Christian Motorcycle Assoc.-Run for the Son or The Baptist Church Benevolence Fund in care of the funeral home.  For online condolences, please visit www.chaputbuoy.com.
