Rita M. (Sallman) Begnoche, age 74, entered into rest on Wednesday August 11th, 2021, at Minneapolis Kansas.  She was born on August 9, 1947 in Concordia, Kansas to Walter and Mabel (Vanick) Sallman.

Rita attended Concordia High School and received her Bachelor's degree in Social Work from Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kansas.

She worked for the Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services (currently DCF) as a Social Worker.  Rita retired in 2013.

Rita loved spending time with family, her children, most of all her beloved grandchildren.

Rita is survived by her son, Rusty Sikes (Rebecca), Clyde, KS; daughter, Chelsea Sutton (Jarrod Sawyer), Salina, KS; 5 grandchildren, Colin Sikes (Lauren), Abby Sikes (Lucas), Gavin Sutton, Karsyn Sikes, Whitley Sikes; 3 sisters, Vivian Schwab, Clay Center, KS; Eva Schwab, Clifton, Melisa Stolzenburg (Mike), Ames, KS; 2 brothers, Gary Sallman, Houston, KS; Karl (Debbie) Sallman, Clifton, KS; many nieces and nephews and numerous friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Esther, 2 sisters, Lenora Thomas, Charla Mills, 2 brothers, Frank Sallman, brother, Larry Sallman.

Rita loved children of all ages and spending time laughing with friends and colleagues. Rita often told colorful stories of her many adventures and trips with her friends.  Rita was a survivor and ultimately became a strong advocate for abused and neglected children.  Rita had an amazing ability to love everyone unconditionally and often provided mentorship for those facing life's challenges.

Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday August 28 ^th , at 10:00 a.m. at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia, Kansas, with Pastor Dwight Whitead officiating.  Burial of cremains will follow in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Rural Norway, Kansas.  Friends and family are encouraged to join for the burial followed by a catered lunch at the American Legion in Concordia.
