Rita L. L'Ecuyer, lifelong resident of Clyde, KS, died Saturday, January, 22, 2011 at the age of 89 at the Clay County Hospital, Clay Center, KS. She was born on July 27, 1921 in Clyde to Walter & Elva (LeSage) Dunphy. Rita graduated from Clyde High School. She married Regis L.'Ecuyer on Nov. 25, 1940 in Clyde, KS. He preceded her on June 10, 1991. Rita was a daughter, wife and mother. She liked cooking, sewing, gardening and did laundry, ironing & cleaned homes for many members of the Clyde community. Rita also volunteered at Park Villa Nursing Home for many years before becoming a resident. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters of America & the church choir, all of Clyde. She is survived by her children; daughter: Cecilia Tagtmeyer & husband Bill, Lincoln, KS, son: Stephen L'Ecuyer & wife Denise, Manhattan, KS, daughters: Emma Brownell & husband Tim, Clay Center, KS & Irene Vaughn & husband Mark, Omaha, NE; sisters: Mary Anne Jacob, Concordia, KS, Eloise Spurgeon, Wichita, KS & Gertrude Bergstrom & husband Eldon, Clyde, KS; brother: Bill Dunphy & wife Emma, Manhattan, KS; sister in law: Mae Baba & husband Mike, Wichita, KS; 10 grandchildren & 16 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Regis; parents & sister, Catherine Marcotte. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM, Tues., Jan. 25, 2011 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Clyde with Rev. Larry Letourneau officiating. Visitation will be from 10 AM to 8 PM with a Parish Rosary at 4 PM and Vigil services at 7 PM with Rev. LeRoy Metro officiating, all Monday, Jan. 24, 2011 at Chaput Mortuary, Clyde. Burial will follow the services at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Clyde. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to the Park Villa Nursing Home, Clyde in care of the funeral home.
