Bob was born on May 21, 1923 to Jules Pete & Blanche Guilmette Collins in Aurora, KS. He died on Jan. 25, 2007 at Mount Joseph Senior Community in Concordia, KS. Bob was raised in the Aurora area. He attended rural grade school and Concordia High School. He met Nadine Bergstrom in Concordia in 1941. They were married on July 26, 1944 in Manhattan, KS. Last year they celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary. She preceded him in death on Nov. 2, 2006. They farmed in the Jamestown community until 1960 when they moved back to Concordia and opened Bob's Repair Service. He worked for Concordia Tractor, doing radiator repair. Bob farmed with a John Deere tractor and had a great appreciation for all John Deere products. He had a passion for car racing. He had a history of building engines for the Collins Race team. He enjoyed gardening, coaching the grandchildren in their activities, hunting and fishing. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Concordia, KS. He is survived by daughters; Phyllis Ostrom & husband Larry, Diane Sothers & husband Rod & Ronda Gumm & husband Jeff all of Concordia, KS, sons; Donald Collins & wife Pauline of Concordia, KS, Dennis Collins & wife Karen of Benton, KS, grandchildren; Jessica Collins of Lawrence, KS, Bob Ostrom & wife Katie of Anchorage, AK, Steve Ostrom & wife Jenny of Wichita, KS, Jennifer Collins & Katie Collins of Benton, KS, Kyle Sothers of Salina, KS, Kelsey Sothers, Krystin Sothers, Brandon Gumm, Kacey Gumm & Jordynn Gumm all of Concordia, KS, great grandchildren; Sarah Ostrom, Ellie Ostrom & Luke Ostrom all of Wichita, KS. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nadine, sisters; Pauline Weaver & Maxine Hamel and his parents. Services are scheduled for 10:00 am Monday, Jan. 29, 2007 at First Presbyterian Church, Concordia with Don Schroeder, officiating. Burial will be at Saron Baptist Cemtery, Jamestown, KS. Visitation will be from 2 pm to 9 pm Sun. at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home where the family will greet friends from 6-7 pm Sun. Memorials have been designated to the First Presbyterian Church, Concordia.
