Robert "Bob" E. Barleen, age 67, died Thurs., May 28, 2015 at his home in Rural Concordia, KS. He was born on Aug. 19, 1947 in Concordia, KS to Leonard O. & Naomi A. (Hammer) Barleen.
Robert graduated from Concordia High School in 1966. He worked at Co-Op Service for Mark Morgan, Boogaarts warehouse and Rex Gerard Excavating. He was a welder for CE/ABB Raymond/ Alstom Power until his retirement. Bob farmed and ranched his entire life.
Bob was a member of the NRA and Moose Lodge. He enjoyed time at the lake, gardening and spoiling the grandkids with frequent shopping trips. His greatest joy in life was his time with his kids and grandkids. Bob never knew a stranger and was always willing to lend a hand where needed.
He married Glenda Gerard on Nov. 17, 1972 and they later divorced.
He is survived by his sons, Jason Barleen & Brett Barleen, Concordia; mother, Naomi Barleen, Concordia; 3 grandchildren, Carlie and Wyatt Barleen; Kyra Voss; 2 brothers, Arnold Barleen (Donna), Concordia, KS.; Leland Barleen (Deanna), Clay Center, KS.; 2 sisters, Karen Smith, Salina, KS.; Phyllis Larsen (Fred), Concordia.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Nicole Barleen & father, Leonard.
The family selected cremation and Memorial services will be held at 10:30 AM, Tues., June 2, 2015 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with Rev. Brian Lager officiating. Private family burial at St. Concordia Cemetery will be at a later date. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, June 1, 2015 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home.
