Robert E. "Bob" Jager, age 81, joined his wife, Barbara, in heaven on Dec. 26, 2013.
Bob passed peacefully surrounded by his children at his home in Concordia, KS. He was born on Sept. 13, 1932 in St. Mary's, KS to Adam & Helen (Applegate) Jager.
Bob graduated from Franklin High School, Portland, OR in 1951. He served in the US Army in the 89
th
Tank Battalion during the Korean Conflict. He married Barbara Ann Deneault on July 19, 1958 in Concordia. Bob worked for Retail Credit Co. prior to working for the Cloud County Appraiser's office until he and Barbara purchased Concordia Office Supply in 1987, which they operated together until 1999. Bob was a member of VFW Post #588, American Legion Post #76, Concordia Lions Club, and Knights of Columbus. He was an active member at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church serving many roles, including lector, usher, server, CCD teacher, and Alter Society.
Bob enjoyed tinkering in his workshop, wood working and fixing things around the house. There was nothing that Bob could not fix. He had many other hobbies including photography, bird watching, rock collecting, KU basketball, K-State football, Royals baseball, gambling, and traveling. He enjoyed spending time with his family.
Survivors include his children; Michael (Nancy) of Amarillo, TX, Julie Hanson (Kallen) of Olathe, Kelly Colvin of Overland Park, Robert J. (Michelle) of Salina, Jennifer Sieben (Patrick) of Concordia, and Brandon (Christi) of Lakewood, CO; sisters, Ruth Hochard (Bill), Kay Ullman, Helen Simmons all of Topeka; brother, Jack Jager (Mary), Canon City, CO; grandchildren, Brooklyn (Hanson) Pickerill and Morgan (Hanson) Roesler, Maya Colvin, Marissa and Tessa Jager, Jager and Levi Sieben, Abbey, Sawyer and Coda Jager, three great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara; daughter, Elizabeth Ann; parents; brothers, Roy, Arthur, Frank & Norman Jager.
It was Bob's wishes to be cremated and a Memorial Mass will be held at 10 am, Fri., Jan. 3, 2014 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Concordia with Rev. LeRoy Metro & Rev. Brian Lager officiating. Burial of the cremains will follow the services at St. Concordia Cemetery with Military honors conducted by VFW Post #588 & American Legion Post #76. Friends may sign the register book from 9 am to 9 pm, with a Vigil Service at 6:30 pm, Thurs., Jan. 2, 2014 all at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church or Meadowlark Hospice in care of the funeral home.
