Robert G. Nicholson, 80 years of age, of Concordia, passed away unexpectedly Monday, October 24, 2011 at Cloud County Health Center, Concordia. He was born on May 4, 1931 in Hill City to Willam "W.C." and Manuella (White) Nicholson. After Robert's mother's passing, W.C. married Gertrude Anderson and she adopted Robert in 1950. Robert graduated from Clifton High School in 1949 and the School of Pharmacy at Kansas University in Lawrence in 1953. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1953 to 1955. Robert married Margery Balthazor in Topeka in 1955. They lived in Ashland, Kentucky while Robert was in the service. Robert then moved to Topeka for a year before moving to Concordia in 1957 and purchasing Locke Drug. They operated as Nicholson Drug Store before partnering with Jim Pettygrove when the name changed to B&J Drug.

Robert is survived by his wife, Margery; 3 sons, Tim Nicholson and Susan Melhus of Concordia, Scott Nicholson and wife Kristi of Pratt, Todd Nicholson and wife Chylene of Concordia; daughter, Jody Kiser and husband Jay of Kailua, HI; 9 grandchildren, Ashly, Stephanie A., Stephanie M., Erin and husband Eric, Courtney, Christopher, Adam, Andrew and wife Allie, Joey; 5 great grandchildren, Kynsly, Keghun, Kyran, Kamdin, Kain; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; step mother, Gertrude (Anderson) Nicholson; sister, Vesta Lambert; and step sister, Marjorie Lynn.

Funeral Services will be held at 10 AM Thursday, October 27, 2011 in the Concordia Lutheran Church in Concordia with Rev. David Strommen officiating. Interment will be in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Clyde. Visitation will be held from 10 AM to 9 PM Wednesday, October 26, 2011 with the family greeting friends from 7 – 8 PM in the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home in Concordia. Memorials may be left to the family's choice in care of the funeral home.
