Rodney C. Hine, age 73, of Scandia, KS, passed away peacefully with his wife by his side, on Saturday, January, 17th, 2026.
Born on September 27th, 1953, in Clay Center, KS, Rodney Hine was the son of Raymond and Dorothy Hine (Lippert). Rodney Hine was raised in Salina, KS. 

He graduated from Central High School of Salina and then attended flight school in Albuquerque, New Mexico where he later became a flight instructor. 

He met Susan Hine (Armour) of Salina and was united in marriage on September 24th, 1979.Once Rodney and Susan started having a family, 

Rodney took a job flying privately for Dub Johnson and Sons. Rodney’s career traits took many impressive turns, from building grain elevator equipment and scales, to plumbing, electrical, concrete, and carpentry. In his spare time, he put his knowledge to work and built four houses for his family to call home.He will be remembered by many for his knowledge, stubbornness, and get it done attitude. There was never a grey area for dad, it was either right or wrong. You knew it was wrong if his sentences started with, wow. 

Rodney was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many.  He is survived by his wife Susan Hine of Scandia; two sons, Nathan Hine of Courtland; and Gabe Hine of Concordia; one daughter Amanda Jeardoe and boyfriend (Brian Boland) of Chapman. There are six grandchildren; Trentin Jones of Beloit, Dylan Hine of Concordia, Samantha Jeardoe, Loren Jeardoe, Jacob Boland, and Grace Boland of Chapman.

The family has chosen to do a private service at a later date. 

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be sent to Meadowlark Hospice of Clay Center or Pike Valley FFA of Scandia, KS. Rodney had a soft spot for those FFA kids.
