Roger C. Nelson, age 81, died Thursday, October 24, 2019 at the Republic County Hospital, Belleville, KS.  He was born on Feb. 8, 1938 in Concordia, KS to Chrest F. & Lucy (Nelson) Nelson.

Roger graduated from Jamestown High School in 1956.  He married his sweetheart since 5 ^th grade, Gretchen L. Kellogg on March 2, 1958 in Jamestown, KS.  They celebrated 55 years of marriage before she preceded him on March 4, 2013.  Roger was a lifelong area farmer.

He was a member of the Jamestown United Methodist Church; St. Johns Lodge #113 AF & AM; he served as a Cloud County Commissioner for 12 years; served on the Cloud County Hospital Board, USD 333 school board, Rural Water Dist. Board; worked as a surveyor and a substitute mail carrier.  He was a member of the former Jamestown Lion's Club and is well known for hosting Coffee Time on KNCK for many years.

Roger is survived by 3 sons, Marlan Nelson (Shari),  Jamestown, Dennis Nelson (Mary), Salina & Dwight Nelson (Sandi Otipoby), Garnett; daughter, Karen Stoneburgh, Lucas; 8 grandchildren, Matthew Nelson (Kaley), Jennifer Gentry (Alex), Travis Stoneburgh (Nicole), Brandie Bruce (Nate), Christopher Nelson, Joshua Nelson, Amanda Nelson, Derrick Nelson; great grandchildren, Kyler Nelson and Traceyanna & Veronica Nelson.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gretchen; his parents; 3 brothers and 3 sisters.

Funeral services will be 10:30 am, Monday, October 28, 2019 at the Jamestown United Methodist Church with Pastor Randy Whitley officiating.  Burial will follow at the Jamestown Cemetery, Jamestown with Masonic services by St. Johns Lodge #113.  Visitation will be Sunday, October 27, 2019 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home from 1-8 pm with the family greeting friends from 6-7 pm.  The family suggests memorials to the Jamestown United Methodist Church in care of the funeral home.  For online condolences, please visit www.chaputbuoy.com.
