Obituary

Roy Livengood was born on April 25, 1925 in Concordia, KS to Guy & Edith (Hebert) Livengood.  He died on Thurs., April 26, 2012 at Salina Regional Health Center, Salina, KS at the age of 87.  He was a veteran of WWII and served with the 91st Infantry Division in North Africa and Italy.  He was an editor and writer and for years edited the Powder River Journal, a magazine of military history.  He was the author of many stories and articles and some of his studies of the Italian Campaign were translated into Italian and published in Italy.  He was preceded in death by his parents; wives, Colleen (Burns) Livengood & Rita (Cigrand) Livengood; sister, Betty Crall & brother Guy Livengood, Jr.  Roy is survived by his daughters, Julie Flack & husband Rick & Lisa Weis & husband Barry both of Salina; son, Jeff Livengood, Larned, KS; brother, Dwight Livengood, Concordia, KS; sisters, Bonnie Wright, Colorado Springs, CO, Pat Livengood, Salina, KS & Carole Berkstresser; grandchildren, Jon Flack & wife Tara, Cumming, GA, Heather Chamoff & husband Josh, Salina, KS & Ethan & Hannah Weis, Salina, KS; 5 great grandchildren & 1 great great grandchild.  It was Roy's wishes to be cremated and the family will hold private services with burial of the cremains at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia, KS.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Salina Public Library.
