Ruby F. (Cordwell) Nelson was born on Oct. 24, 1926 in Hunter, KS to Ernest & Lucy (Baird) Cordwell. She passed from this life on Friday, Jan. 8, 2010 at Cloud County Health Center, Concordia at the age of 83. Ruby graduated from Jamestown High School. She married Bob Nelson on June 27, 1947 in Concordia, KS. Ruby worked as a secretary for the telephone company and was a homemaker. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Jamestown. Ruby loved cardinals and enjoyed collecting various items with cardinals. She is survived by her husband: Bob Nelson, Jamestown, KS; daughters: Vicki Demars & husband Dave, Concordia, KS & Kathy Hajny & husband Brad, Jamestown, KS; sons: Brad Nelson & wife Sherry, Jamestown, KS & Kenny Nelson, Jamestown, KS; sister in law: Carolyn Cordwell, Jamestown, KS; grandchildren: Jason Demars & fiancé Nicki Beckley, Abilene, KS, Curtis Demars, Salina, KS, Debbie Sterrett & husband Damon, Concordia, KS, Scott Demars & wife Amanda, Glasco, KS, Jeff Nelson & wife Nicole, Concordia, KS, Julie Crowley & husband James, Beloit, KS, Crystal Lieb & husband Trevor, Courtland, KS, Corey Nelson & Krystal Mosher, Courtland, KS, Mark Nelson & wife Starla, Jamestown, KS, Bret Nelson & fiancé Tracie Brandenburgh, Jamestown, KS, Nicole Brown & husband Nick, Ashland, KS & Stephanie Pate, Beloit, KS; great grandchildren: Dustin & Drew Sterrett, Bethany & Noah Demars, Makayla, Olivia & Kaitlyn Nelson, Emilie & Alex Crowley, Erica Dawn Lieb, Mara Nelson & Pate & Jace Brown. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Elmer Cordwell & an infant granddaughter, Michelle Lee Demars. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM, Tues., Jan. 12, 2010 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home with Rev. Dean R. Frazier officiating. Visitation will be held from 9 AM to 9 PM with the family greeting friends from 7-8 PM Mon., Jan. 11, 2010 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home. Burial will follow the services at the Jamestown Cemetery, Jamestown, KS. The family suggests memorials to the Ruby Nelson Family Memorial.
