Russell M. Fraser was born on Dec. 10, 1916, NE of Norway, KS to Edwin P. & Jennie R. (Bowling) Fraser. He passed from this life on Sunday, March 20, 2011 at Cloud County Health Center, Concordia, KS at the age of 94. Russell attended Highland Schools. He married Dora A. Lundblade on June 8, 1941 in Concordia, KS. She survives the home. Russell farmed the Bowling family farm until it was sold in 1949. He then owned and operated the Fraser Garage & Co-Op Filling Station in Norway from 1950-1967 and then returned to full time farming in 1967. Russell and Dora moved to Concordia in 1982. He was a member and active supporter of the E.U.B Church at Norway. In the Norway community Russell served on the Highland School Board, Norway Township Board, the Norway Fire Dept. and was a member of the Norway Businessmen Club. Russell also was a member of the ELKS Lodge and Moose Lodge #1428 and the First United Methodist Church all of Concordia. Russell and Dora were also members of the Pawnee Pale Faces Camper Club. He is survived by his wife: Dora Fraser, Concordia, KS; daughters: Janet Sue Schmidt & husband Kenneth, Salina, KS & Linda Kay Latham & husband David, Wentzville, MO; sister: Norma Lee Gavette & husband Ross, Scottsdale, AZ; grandchildren: Lee Ann Kramer & husband Tom, Cheney, KS, Shanie Latham, Arnold, MO & Jyl Brady & husband Chris, St. Louis, MO & great grandchildren: Trevor Kramer, Manhattan, KS, Cash Kramer, Cheney, KS & Lila Jane Brady, St. Louis, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Donald & Dale Fraser; sister, Mary Pauline Gaskell & a great granddaughter, Lexi Ann Kramer. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Thursday, March 24, 2011 at the First United Methodist Church, Concordia with Pastor Tessa Zehring officiating. Visitation will be held from 9 AM to 9 PM with the family greeting friends from 7-8 PM Wed. at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home. Burial will follow the services at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia. The family suggests memorials to the NCK Health Foundation or the Cloud County Foundation for Health Care in care of the funeral home.
