Ruth E. Christian was born on August 9, 1917 in Clifton, Kansas to Ross E. & Mary Mildred (Morgan) Hampton. She passed from this life on Wed., Feb. 11, 2009 at Cheyenne Lodge Nursing Home, Jamestown, KS at the age of 91. Ruth graduated from Clyde High School and then attended Normal Training for one year at Clyde. She taught school in the a rural one room schoolhouse. She married Herbert Christian on Dec. 25, 1938. He preceded her in death on Feb. 22, 1972. Ruth later worked as a cook for the Clifton-Clyde school district for 13 years. She was involved in the Methodist church circle at Clyde. Ruth is survived by her daughters, Patricia Walker & hus. Harold, Miltonvale, KS, Nancy Johnson & hus. Neill, Morganville, KS, Marilyn Elliott, Strasburg, CO, Kathy Kirchoff & hus. Phil, Beloit, KS & Margaret Johnson & hus. Mike, Courtland, KS; a son, Stephen Christian & wife Vicki, Windsor, CO; sisters, Meda Trowbridge & hus. Keith, Manhattan, KS & Mary Hampton, Grand Junction, CO; 14 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; several step grandchildren & great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert; parents & a son in law, Jim Drury. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Sat., Feb. 14, 2009 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home with Rev. Dan Daniels officiating. Visitation will be from 9 AM to 9 PM with the family receiving friends from 6-9 PM, Friday, Feb. 13, 2009 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home. Burial will follow the services at Walnut Grove Cemetery, Rural Concordia, KS. The family suggests memorials to the Cheyenne Lodge Nursing Home.
